The first Macross release in the US was in 1984. It was not on TV, and there weren't commercial either. It was largely unnoticed. The first release contained unedited first 3 episodes of Macross. It was then cancelled after only one volume, and Harmony Gold, the company made the release, produced a dubbed version cal Robotech.
